01

Design for a small avatar

YouTube profile pictures appear in many small placements and can be shown with circular cropping. Keep the face, logo or symbol away from the corners and check that it is still recognisable when reduced.

ThumbPull uses an 800 × 800 square working canvas so there is room to edit cleanly. Fit keeps the whole source, Fill covers the square, and Crop lets you choose the exact framing.

02

A working canvas is not a display-size claim

YouTube's current help documentation says the profile image renders at 98 × 98 pixels and recommends using a square or round image. The 800 × 800 ThumbPull preset is therefore an editing canvas, not a claim that YouTube displays the avatar at 800 pixels.

FAQ / PRACTICAL ANSWERS

NO MYSTERY CONTROLS.

Does YouTube require an 800 × 800 profile picture?

No. ThumbPull uses 800 × 800 as a practical square editing canvas. YouTube currently says the profile image renders at 98 × 98 pixels and recommends square or round artwork.

Does ThumbPull upload my image?

Normal resize, crop, compress, convert and batch work is processed in the browser. Pulling a public YouTube thumbnail requires requesting that public image from YouTube.

Do I need an account?

No. The core thumbnail and image tools are designed to work without creating an account.
